Design Dilemma

My clients always ask me questions pertaining to Interior Design and Feng Shui and once in awhile I like to post the answers on my blog for others....

Question:
"I've seen Foo Dog statues around recently, what are they and what do they represent?"

Answer:
The Foo Dog, Fu Dog or Guardian Lion is a mythical creature which is known to the Chinese as "Shi".  They're mythical guardians that stand and protect the front of Chinese palaces, temples, government offices and home of government officials and the wealthy. You'll typically see a pair of these creatures as one represents a male and the other a female (think yin and yang) with the male on the left side of the entrance and the female on the right.
