Year of the Sheep

This Thursday is the Chinese New Year, and we’ll be celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Sheep.  This year will represent the eighth year in the 12 year cycle in the Chinese Zodiac.  Luckily we’ll be saying goodbye to the Year of the Horse which created a wild ride for us all.  It will be quite nice enjoying the gentle grazing sheep, which will give us a MUCH needed slower pace.

Sheep consist of the Earth and Wood elements in the Five Element theory. The sheep is gentle, peaceful and patient and considered the most feminine of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.
Go ahead and make preparations for this holiday. Begin by cleaning and clearing clutter, this is setting the stage for good things to come your way. You may want to spend some time meditating, doing yoga or just enjoying some quiet time to reflect on the past year, and how this year will be harmonious for you. I also suggest that you select red to wear on Thursday.  At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes which symbolizes fire.  This can drive away bad luck according to Chinese legend.

May you have a most wonderful and prosperous
Year of the Sheep!
